We have completed numerous projects on behalf of commercial clients wishing to upgrade the strength of their building.  In a post earthquake environment, increasing the strength of a building according to the new building standards is of increased significance.  We can work with the Structural Engineer to implement their recommendations effectively by using our extensive technical knowledge and experience.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING, MIDDLETON

We have recently completed a structural strengthening project to 3 warehouse units within one building.  Prior to the project commencing the units were assessed as being at 19% of the New Building Standard (NBS).  We implemented the recommendations of the clients Structural Engineer, which has increased the building strength to 75% NBS.

At the same time, we undertook a fire upgrade to the units and some refurbishment.

ST BEDES COLLEGE - CLOCK TOWER

We completed a 2 stage project to bring the St Bedes Clocktower up to NBS (New Building Standard) requirements. We implemented the structural engineers recommendations from their Detailed Engineering Evaluation, inclusive of structural steel to the parapet, and brick ties and strengthening of the administration building associated with the tower (Marist House). All of this work was completed with minimal disruption to the college, who were delighted with the result.


Waterloo

COMMERCIAL PREMISES - WATERLOO ROAD

We upgraded this commercial premises to meet 67%NBS seismic strengthening requirements. Working in close consultation with the project Engineer, we installed structural steel beams, completed crack repairs to precast panels and the floor slab. We then undertook some refurbishment work to complete the transformation of this building. This work was all undertaken whilst the tenants continued to occupy the building, which is a testament to our careful project management, high site safety standards and respectful employees.

BECKENHAM METHODIST CHURCH

The Beckenham Methodist Church suffered significant earthquake damage and their hall was damaged beyond repair. We were engaged to act as the Main Contractor to complete a 3 stage project that involved construction of a new architecturally designed hall, structural strengthening of the main church building and upgrading kitchen and toilet facilities. 

The strengthening phase involved bringing the building up to 67% NBS with the use of steel beames and supports for the numerous gables. The project was carefully managed to enable the church congregation to use completed parts of the building whilst the structural strengthening work to the main building was undertaken.

The project was not only completed on the required deadline, but importantly for the church parish , we managed to achieve Code of Compliance from CCC for the entire project within 48 hours to enable the building to be used for a special function.
