"Can't believe how well the new reception area and the rest of the building has come up. It looks amazing. Can't wait to get back over there and start enjoying it. Thanks to you and your great team for being so easy to work with. Look forward to seeing you guys at the "official" opening."

Lynda Milner, Executive Officer, Darfield High School

The project scope of work for Block E included full interior refurbishment of the building and creation of flexible learning spaces.

Work included new unisex toilets, removal of walls and creation of internal glass partition operable walls, new aluminium joinery, new ceiling tiles and flooring, mechanical services upgrade, new interior and exterior lighting, new exterior access routes, new corrugated iron roof and upgrade of the classroom to DQLS requirements.

The Administration Block was a full interior upgrade and refurbishment.

Each space within the block e.g. reception, executive office, toilets, kitchen, sick bay, work rooms etc. had specific requirements to upgrade the room to increase the functionality of each space as well as make them more aesthetically pleasing.

The sequencing and staging of the works was designed to maximise the use of the space for the school.

Structural alterations were required to move and relocate walls to create new spaces and change the sizing of existing spaces, with new lintels, bracing elements, wall linings and beams.

New footings and a pile foundation was constructed to accommodate changes to drainage. A full insulation upgrade to the building was completed, including underfloor insulation to the subfloor, insulation to interior walls and specialist acoustic insulation for the Executive Office.

New joinery was designed and manufactured for the kitchen, laundry/cleaners room and reception area.

A significant upgrade to mechanical services was required, focusing on increasing heating due to the local climate. This involved radiators, new heat pumps as well as new extraction.

A security services upgrade was also completed, with a solution developed collaboratively with multiple school stakeholders.

New plumbing fittings and fixtures were installed throughout all areas, new vinyl and flooring installed to the entire block and full internal plaster and paint.

Electrical and data upgrades were undertaken also – demonstrating the comprehensive nature of this project.

All rooms and surfaces within the block were altered, and all services were upgraded.
